The Katsina State Hisbah Board seized 142 cartons of alcohol intended for delivery to the Daura Local Government Area on Monday, 24th June.

During a city-wide patrol to eradicate immoral behaviours and indiscipline, the Hisbah Commander, Dr. Aminu Usman, led the operation to intercept the vehicle carrying the cartons of alcohol on the Ringroad. This task was supervised by Malam Nafi'u Ma'azu Akilu, who ensured the items were transported to the board's headquarters for further investigation.

In a related development, the Hisbah Board also arraigned two women in court for the fourth time on charges of loitering and immoral conduct. The women, Fatima Umar (Yargata) and Raliya Isah (’Yar Ruma), are both approximately 24 years old.

The board stated that despite previous warnings and counselling, the women failed to reform their behaviour, leading to their arraignment before the Sharia Court No.1 in Kofar Soro, where they pleaded guilty. The presiding judge, Alkali Kasimu Liman, ordered their remand in a correctional facility until Thursday, 27th June, for continuation of the trial.

The Hisbah Board continues to call on parents, teachers, and community leaders to intensify their efforts in instilling discipline among youths, and to support the board in maintaining order and morality in Katsina State. This appeal aims to restore the virtuous values of the Katsina community in accordance with the regulations that established the board.
